About Trip Manta

A flight price tracker that checks every hour and actually tells you when prices drop.

Why I Built This

You know that feeling when you book a flight, and then a week later you see the same flight for $100 less? Yeah. That kept happening to me.

I tried the popular flight alert apps. They promised to notify me when prices dropped. Spoiler: they mostly didn't work. Alerts came late or not at all. The ones that did work only checked prices a few times per week, so they'd miss the random drops that happen in between.

So I built Trip Manta. It's pretty simple — it checks flight prices every hour and emails you when they drop. Looking at the data, prices often drop 20-30% in the last month before departure. Figured other people might find this useful too.

That's basically it. Nothing fancy, just a thing that actually does what it says.

Why is it called Trip Manta?

I like scuba diving and manta rays are cool.

How Trip Manta Works

You Pick a Flight

Search for a flight and select the specific itinerary you want to track — not just a route, but the exact airline and schedule.

We Check Every Hour

Our system monitors the price of your tracked flight every hour, 24 hours a day. Most other trackers check once per day or less.

You Get an Email

When the price drops past your threshold, we send a detailed email with the new price, the savings amount, and a link to book.

For a deeper look at how our monitoring system works, including the technical details of price collection, alert thresholds, and what we can and can't detect, see our methodology page.

Our Approach to Transparency

No affiliate links or hidden booking fees. Trip Manta is a price tracker, not a travel agency. We don't sell tickets or earn commissions when you book. Our revenue comes from Pro subscriptions.

We publish our methodology. How we check prices, how alerts are triggered, what we can and can't detect — it's all documented on our methodology page. We also publish data studies using our own pricing data.

We're honest about limitations. We can't access every airline's inventory in real time. Our prices come from public search results and may differ slightly from what you see when you book. We don't predict future prices — we just track what's happening now. Read the full list of limitations and caveats.
